DLC-SAVA Conservation is participating in the effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the SAVA (northeastern) region of Madagascar! In collaboration with a local youth association called Youth Observatory, we provided masks to the staff of the CHRR (Center Hospitalier de Reference Régional) hospital Besopaka in Sambava. The ceremony for the presentation of these donations took place on June 15, 2020 at the hospital.

The representative of Youth Observatory, Razaka Nambininjara, explained that the donations were for health personnel, since they are on the front lines and potentially exposed to this disease. Dr. Nourdine Raharimanjaka thanked all those who contributed the donations and that he hoped this collaboration would continue. The ceremony was very short because the medical staff had work to do. Donations consisted of 150 washable masks and 100 sterile masks.

DLC-SAVA has also contributed posters in Malagasy on how to combat COVID-19 through hygiene and social distancing. Conservation means working with local communities.
