As we step into 2026, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible milestones of the past year. While 2025 had its valleys, it was filled with plenty of peaks worth remembering!
Expanding Opportunities: With the launch of our new Maintenance Volunteer Department, we now offer opportunities to serve across 10 departments at the Lemur Center and the DLC Museum of Natural History.
Volunteer Strength: In 2025, our dedicated “regular” volunteers numbered 258 strong, contributing an astounding 10,995.02 hours of service, the equivalent of more than five full-time staff members. That’s truly remarkable!
Service Groups: We also welcomed 16 student and professional service groups, bringing in 171 additional volunteers who contributed 513 hours of their time to support our mission.
Giving Hearts: Our volunteers are responsible for symbolically adopting not one, but three lemur infants through our new Baby’s First Year: Ultimate Adoption Package. Combined they raised $40,000, directly helping the center navigate this year of unprecedented budget challenges.
Thank you, volunteers! Happy New Year and welcome to 2026!
