Earth Day Global 5K – Info Hub for Participants
Thanks for registering for the 2023 Earth Day Global 5K! We’ll update this page weekly or more with news and information about the race, including a list of team names, U.S. states and countries represented in 2023, shipping dates for t-shirts, and fun ideas for planning your 5K.

April 22 Update:
Happy Earth Day to all of our lemur-loving friends and thank you for participating in the Duke Lemur Center’s Earth Day Global 5K! Get out there and do your 5K in the way that makes you happy and we invite you to share photos and stories about your motivation to participate on social media and tag @dukelemurcenter and hashtag #EarthDayGlobal5k when you do! Alternatively, you can email images of you completing your your 5K to our social media specialist, Abby Flyer, at abigail.flyer@duke.edu.
Thanks for doing something wonderful on Earth Day weekend to support our internship program, teaching and inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards!
As of the morning of 4/22, we have more than 700 5K participants from 42 states plus England and there’s still time to register and you will receive your shirt later!
April 17 Update:
Today, we have 40 U.S. states represented in our 5K – more than 700 participants and just over $25,000 in registrations thus far. Hooray! More shirts are going out this week. Thanks to everyone who is participating. Team info. will be updated later today on the 5K teams page! Are you watching the forecast and planning your day and time to do YOUR 5K? Check-in with your teammates and develop some fun plans for before, during, and after your 5K! Celebrate Earth Day weekend together!!
April 10 Update:
Thanks to all of our volunteers who worked hard on Saturday 4/8 to get our t-shirts ready to go to the first round of registrants!
Thus far, we have 569 registered participants from these 38 U.S. states. Plus we have one participant in England, too!

April 4 Update:
509 registered participants from 37 states – as yet, no on outside the U.S. has registered. Let’s go global! Check out the Teams Page for the list of teams as of 4/4!
March 23 Update: Registrations are rolling in! So far, we have just over 310 registered participants. Team names and the number of members per team as of 3/23 are now updated on the Teams Page!

March 15 Update: We’ve tallied hundreds of votes, and we’re thrilled to announce that the winner of this year’s 5K t-shirt design contest is Callie Smith’s “Outta This World Ruffed Lemur”! Callie’s design will be printed on all t-shirts distributed to 2023 Earth Day Global 5K participants. A t-shirt sizing chart and other information is available here.
