For more than 60 years, the Duke Lemur Center has served as a global resource for scientific discovery, conservation, education, and the protection of endangered species. As the funding landscape for research and conservation continues to evolve, philanthropy plays an increasingly important role in ensuring that this extraordinary resource remains strong, resilient, and accessible for future generations. Today, supporters have an opportunity not simply to support a program, but to help safeguard a one-of-a-kind institution whose impact reaches around the world.
If ever you have considered doing something bigger or special for the Duke Lemur Center, we’d love to talk with you! We hope you will consider these opportunities and contact our Development Director, Mary Paisley, at mary.paisley@duke.edu or (919) 401-7252 if you have questions.

Endowments and Endowed Positions
Behind every breakthrough, each conservation success, and every single healthy lemur is an extraordinary team of experts. Endowing leadership and key staff positions helps retain world-class talent and ensures continuity of expertise for decades to come. Endowed funds create permanent, dependable resources that support animal care, conservation, education, research, and leadership. An endowed gift helps reduce uncertainty and strengthens long-term sustainability.
Unrestricted endowments ($100K+) are a top priority as perpetual sources of funding for our operations. Visit our endowments page for more information on named endowments! In addition, we are seeking endowed support for our key staff positions:

Transformational Opportunities
Transform the Duke Lemur Center through the creation of a Named Discovery Center. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a public-facing gateway that inspires future conservationists and connects visitors with science, biodiversity, and lemur conservation. The Named Discovery Center will be a hub for learning and scientific discovery, exploring primate history, biodiversity, conservation, and research. A highlight of the exhibits will be the Lemur Center’s rare and extensive collection of fossils. Learn more on our Major and Principal Gifts page.
Planned/Legacy Gifts
