Join us to celebrate the Duke Lemur Center’s work to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards! You can find details and the registration link below for all on-site activities on Saturday 9/24. Each session is $25 per person plus tax. You can mix and match throughout the day, or just register for the ones that strike your interest! Read descriptions below and register through this link:

Morning Sessions
Adventures in Research at 9:00 AM or 10:30 AM on Sat., 9/24
$25 + tax per person, 75 minutes, Borruel Center
Venture into the world of lemur research inside the DLC’s brand new Anna Borruel Codina Center for Lemur Medicine and Research, led by an expert team including Director of Research Dr. Erin Ehmke. While you will not see lemurs on this experience, your time with our amazing human experts promises some great stories and fascinating tales of what we learn from lemurs every day at the DLC!
Lemur Matchmaking 101 at 9:00 AM or 10:30 AM on Sat., 9/24
$25 + tax per person, 75 minutes, Simons Conference Room
Join Colony Curator Britt Keith to learn about the crucial role the DLC plays in maintaining a healthy and robust genetic safety net of lemurs living in human care around the world. This will be a seated presentation and Q&A session. While the lemurs will not make an in-person appearance in this session, they will be featured in presentation videos and photos.
Lunch Session
Conservation Conversations Over Lunch at 12:00 PM Noon on Sat., 9/24
$25 + tax per person, 75 minutes, DLC covered patio
Join this lunch session with DLC Conservation Coordinator Charlie Welch and other fans of our conservation work while we have some excellent pizza from Enzo’s! We’ll have a few props ready so that you can take a photo with others, and Charlie Welch will share our latest SAVA happenings. Pizza lunch will be provided by the DLC.
Afternoon Sessions
Adventures in Veterinary Care at 1:00 PM or 2:30 PM on Sat., 9/24
$25 + tax per person, 75 minutes, Borruel Center
Our second adventure in the Borruel Center of the day – this exploration into veterinary care is led by DLC Staff Veterinarian Dr. Laura Ellsaesser. You’ll get behind-the-scenes perspectives on specific ways that we care for and learn from lemurs throughout their lives at the DLC. Note that no lemurs will be participating in this experience, only video recordings or exams and treatments or plush toy lemurs may make an appearance.
Fossils Behind the Scenes at 1:00 PM or 2:30 PM on Sat., 9/24
$25 + tax per person, 75 minutes, 1013 Broad Street
Do you “dig” fossils? Do you want to know more about the origins of lemurs and other primates? Would you like to see a preview of the brand new DLC Museum of Natural History (MNH) opening later this fall? Join DLC Fossil Curator Dr. Matt Borths for a behind-the-scenes peek at the current happenings of the newly rebranded and renovated DLCMNH!
Giving Societies Reception
4:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Sat., 9/24
$25 + tax per person, DLC covered patio and tour path
