BY MOVING FORWARD TO REGISTER FOR THE DUKE LEMUR CENTER STAY AWAY 5K, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ, AGREE TO, AND WILL COMPLY WITH THE EVENT REGISTRATION WAIVER BELOW AND THAT IF REGISTERING A MINOR, YOU ARE THE LEGAL GUARDIAN.
Having read this waiver, and knowing the facts, and in consideration of the acceptance of this entry, I hereby, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive, release and discharge Duke University, Duke Lemur Center, all employees of the aforementioned organizations, and all directors, officials and volunteers associated with the virtual Duke Lemur Center Stay Away 5K from any and all claims of injury or liabilities of any kind, illness or damages suffered by me, as a result of my participation in or traveling to and from this virtual event.
I know that I will be running in an event that is organized as a virtual activity where I voluntarily elect to run on my own, at a date and time of my choosing, in a location and running route of my choosing, which will not have any support or security measures in place by Duke University.
I know that running is a potentially hazardous activity and that I am participating in this virtual event by my own free will and at my own personal risk. I should not enter and run unless I am medically able and properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to any aspect of my participation in this virtual event. I attest that I have read and understand the rules of the virtual race schedule for April 23-24, 2022, including the terms in this waiver and the timeline of the virtual event, and agree to abide by them.
I assume all risk associated with running on my own as part of this virtual activity, including but not limited to falls, contact with other pedestrians, effects of the weather, traffic and trail conditions, all such risks being known or unknown and appreciated by me when out running on my own without any type of support from local officials or event organizers. I realize that this is a strenuous event, which requires proper physical conditioning. I hereby certify that I am in such physical condition and good health.
