Track Out Science Camps: 2017

The Leaping Lemurs! Track Out Science Camp is a co-ed camp designed for grades 1st through 8th and includes a mixture of classroom learning, fun interactive activities, and of course plenty of time with the lemurs! Each camp includes age-appropriate modules that guarantee an educational and fun-filled time for your child. Participants learn about all aspects of the Duke Lemur Center, including research, conservation, and animal care! This is a great camp for the animal lover in your family.

3 half-days or 5 full days, depending on your child’s age. Half-day camps begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 1:00 p.m., and full-day camps begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m.

Additional Info:

Please dress your child appropriately for the weather and ensure they are wearing closed-toed tennis shoes. We ask that caretakers provide a water bottle, sunscreen and insect repellent as all campers will be exposed to outdoor elements.

Because this is a science camp, all activities are STEM-based.

Lunch won’t be provided, so children should bring their own bagged lunches. Although refrigeration isn’t available, all lunches are kept in an air-conditioned room. Drinks (water, soda) are available at the Lemur Landing Gift Shop for $1.00.

Children picked up after 1:00 p.m. (3-day camps) or 4:00 p.m. (weeklong camps) will be subject to a late pick-up fee of $10 per half hour, unless arrangements have been made for aftercare ($15 per day for full-day camps; not available for half-day camps). The Duke Lemur Center closes at 5:00 p.m.

Although children will be very close to the lemurs, there is no touching or handling of the lemurs per Lemur Center regulations.
