Commonly asked questions regarding our summer internship program
What is the minimum age of the interns? We require interns to be a minimum of 18 years old
Do I have to live in North Carolina? No, we welcome domestic and international interns.
Can I be affiliated with any college? Yes! You do not need to be a Duke University student to intern at the Duke Lemur Center. We have interns from a variety of colleges and Universities.
Is this a paid internship? All internships are on a volunteer basis. Your college may offer academic credit for your internship. If so, we are glad to assist with any documentation you may need. Please check with your institution for more information.
Is housing and/or transportation provided? We do not provide housing or transportation. Please note we do not have public transportation that services the DLC. Interns are required to have their own form of reliable transportation to the Center.
How many hours a week are the internships? Each internship has specific weekly hour requirements. Weekly hours range from 15 hours a week to 30 hours a week. Please check the internship descriptions for specific information.
What days will I work each week? Similar to the hour requirement, each internship has specific requirements in regards to consecutive days and shift times. Please check the internship descriptions for specific information.
Is there a final project? Yes. All interns are required to present an intern project at our Intern Symposium on Saturday, August 10, 2013. Once your internship begins, you will work with your Intern Manager to identify a specific project for the Symposium.
Do I need a TB test? Yes. All interns are required to show test results from a TB test that has been received within the last 12 months.
