Tour Option #1: Lemurs Live

Description + Pricing

This general tour is perfect for a wide audience! Whether you're a longtime supporter of the DLC who's bringing new friends and family along, or if you're just learning about lemurs for the first time, our knowledgeable and engaging guides will provide the best possible educational experience. This general tour introduces visitors to an average of about 10 species of the amazing prosimians living at the Center.

Adults (ages 12 and up) – $12 per person plus tax
Children (3-12), Seniors (65+), Military w/ ID, and college students w/ ID - $9 plus tax
Duke Employee w/ ID – $10 plus tax
Duke Alumni w/ ID card - $9 plus tax ($9 rate also extended to one guest)
Young Children (ages 2 and under) – FREE
Group Rate (10+ participants) – $8 plus tax (chaperones count as participants with school groups)

Scheduling

This tour lasts approx. 75 minutes and is offered year-round every day of the week except Tuesdays. Tour times can vary depending on season, but morning and afternoon options are provided each day.

Age Restrictions

None. This tour is fun for all ages! If your party includes many children under the age of 8, you might also consider a Little Lemurs tour (see below).

Tour Option #2: Private Lemurs Live

Description + Pricing

Get a personable and knowledgeable DLC tour guide all to yourself with a private Lemurs Live tour! While this tour follows the same path as the general offering, your personal guide can cater to the specific interests of your group. Whether you'd like a private experience for two or a unique bonding activity for a group of friends, family, or co-workers, this tour is perfect for those seeking a more personalized visit.

Total cost is $125 plus tax for each group (maximum 18 people per group).

Scheduling

This tour lasts approx. 90 minutes and is available every day of the week. Please note that reservations are required, and that we may not be able to accommodate private tour requests made fewer than 4 weeks in advance (though we promise to try!).

Your group can help the lemurs! We're always looking for fun toys and treats for our residents. Tour Option #3: Little Lemurs

Description + Pricing

This experience is specially designed for the little lemur lovers in your life and is highly recommended for groups with children under the age of 8. This tour follows the same path as the general Lemurs Live tour, but the material and pacing are catered to a younger audience. Our experienced guides will focus on providing the best possible experience for younger primates on this tour.

Please note that this experience is specifically designed for younger children, and that our guides will focus primarily on them and their questions and interests.

All guests ages 3 and up – $9 per person plus tax
Young children (ages 2 and under) – FREE

Scheduling

This tour lasts approx. 50 minutes and is offered Thursdays through Sundays at 10:00 a.m.

Age Restrictions

None. This tour is fun for all ages! It is, however, most perfectly suited for children under 8.

Additional Details

Tour Deposits: 

The Duke Lemur Center will hold a deposit of 50% of the total cost for each group tour or premium tour. A group representative must provide credit card information to hold the spaces for the tour. You must call to make any changes to your reservation at least 48 hours in advance of your tour. Group that cancel with less than 48 hours until their tour or no-show will be charged the 50% deposit. Groups that arrive with fewer participants for the tour without having notified the Duke Lemur Center 48 hours in advance will be charged the full amount of spaces booked.

Public vs. Private Tours: 

On the Tour Comparison Chart HERE, tours that are reservable per person are public tours open to anyone who requests a reservation. Unless you book all 8 spaces on a Walking with Lemurs tour, for instance, you’ll be on the tour with people outside your group. Tours that are reservable by group, on the other hand, are private bookings exclusively for you and your invitees.
