Duke Lemur Center

Donations

The Duke Lemur Center is funded by three main sources: Duke University, the National Science Foundation and private donations. Your tax-deductible donations make it possible to provide the food, veterinary and keeper care and equipment necessary to care for our irreplaceable colony each and every day. Private donations and grants fund 100% of the Lemur Center’s conservation efforts in Madagascar to save and protect wild lemurs and their natural habitats. Donations can be made through Duke’s Gift Records Office at gifts.duke.edu or checks can be sent to:

 OTHER WAYS TO GIVE

Adopt a Lemur

Adopt a Lemur packages make a great gift and allow you to learn about different animals here at the Center. Adopt a lemur for yourself, class, organization or the lemur lover in your life!  These packages are available at a variety of giving levels beginning at $50.00.  Click the Share the Care icon to the right of the page to order online or call 919-401-7226!

Radio Collars

For a donation of $350 you can have your name on a lemur- or at least a tag on a brand new radio collar worn by a lemur here at the Center!  The radio collars are an insurance policy that help our dedicated staff insure that all our free-ranging lemurs are safe all the time.  This is a great idea for an in honor of or in memoriam of a special person in your life.

For a gift of $10,000 the Duke Lemur Center staff will give you a one-hour lesson in telemetry in the forest tracking real lemurs.  Limit no more than two people for this experience.  Must be 13 years or older.  Talk about uniquely Duke!  Please call Niki Barnett at 919-401-7240 to make your gift.
